We are going to talk alllllllll about silk thread. Our favorite knotting silk is the Griffin 100% Silk Cord. It comes in a variety of colors and sizes. The cord comes with a needle already attached with is so smart. You will need to choose your silk based on the size of the hole in your beads. Similar sized beads can have significantly different hole sizes. Here are the 2, 4, 6, and 8 sizes knotted with beads.
Each card of Griffin Silk comes with 2 meters, which is a little over 6 feet. Each card will knot about 34” worth of beads, but it does vary depending on the size and length of the beads. We always knot with the Beadalon knotting tool, but you may have learned another way. We offer a Youtube tutorial with step by step knotting instruction. Our favorite way to finish off knotted necklaces and bracelets is using french wire to cover the thread which goes around the clasp. Our most popular sizes are 6 and 8. We also carry 10, 12, and 14 in neutral colors.
You can also use waxed linen, leather cord or nylon thread for knotting. While we do have white, beige and black silk on our site, we are happy to ship any of the colors in the last slide.
